Volume 1 & 2 were awesome, collecting the ancient lore of Azeroth and Dreanor leading up to the events of Warcraft I and Warcraft II.Volume 3 gave some high hopes as it would definitely focus on Warcraft III. As usual the art was amazing and it gave a great overview of the events...an "overview". It also gave some information on the events of World of Warcraft up to the Expansion cataclysm.Sadly this book felt way to crammed and rush, as some of the details of Warcraft III seemed left out. It felt like much of Northrend campaign was skimmed from the perspective of Warcraft II and World of Warcraft. It would have been a great opportunity to go into the Vyrkul, Frost Dwarves, Earthen, etc. They gave hints of stuff here an there, but it was large just in passing. Plus many of the maps were just page filler, repeated a couple of times...I was hoping for a nice map of Northrend. Also it seems the decision to hurry up, was that the book points out that many other sources tell the tale....and I think they missed the point. Chronicles is a hopefully definitive source for Warcraft history.I have no idea wait may lie in store for Chronicles 4, but definitely more newer maps and perhaps vaporware lore that was cut from the game?Heck if it can't be in game....why not here. Hopefully some of the events in Hearthstone will be mentioned, I really wish New Gadgetzan was ingame/lore. It is still a good read, but not as great as the first two.
While I did enjoy this volume, the ones prior really set the bar high. The art and detail seemed to be lacking just a bit compared to its predecessors.It's still worth a buy if you are a fan.
Very nice to be more aware of modern days events.Starts mostly with Warcraft 3. If you already know the events, there wont be much more added. If you don't like RTS and haven't bothered to play/watch WC3, this willl pretty much explain the story as no book before had.Once it jumps into post-third war times, I really liked the ordering of events. As a "champion/adventurer/hero" you get to de anything at anytime as long as the game content allows it. On the other hand you might not be much into quests and miss a lot of events. This book records and places most of the events happening during WOW (up to certain point, leaving place for a future 4th book i hope). This way you'll know who did what (champions of course, but often either horde or alliance, sometimes leaded by known characters), and some events you might have missed if you don't quest too hard.Lovin' it.
Overall I enjoyed this chronicle of Warcraft’s history just as I did the first two. The style of writing is relatively straightforward and conveys meaning well. That being said, I would recommend fans purchase the physical version of this item. The kindle version is formatted a little odd at times and inadvertently disrupted the experience. Like the previous volumes publishes in this Chronicle there is a fair bit of redundancy but if the reader can get past that then I think they’ll enjoy the book and find it quite worth the purchase.
This one seems to have lesser images than previous two chronicles. But its still really good and high quality. Mine came a little damaged from the corners. They should pay more attention to packaging. Anyway, i definitely recommend this to all WoW players.
I really like the choices they made while writing this, they retconned a few things that needed retconning. They even canonically attribute each raid to either the horde the alliance or certain lore figures but they made sure to mention the heroes of WoW (us) with each victory. Overall one of my favorite in this series of lorebooks I'm loving all the chronicles so far and looking forward to MoP and forward books.
The series is exactly what I was looking for. I history of Warcraft.The reason I have the review less than five stars is because of the carelessness of the handling of the purchased product.Every corner of every book is dented and damaged...
Not as detailed as the first two books were, but it’s important to remember that all of these events in Vol. 3 were played in Warcraft 3 and World of Warcraft, so I assume the authors expect readers to be players who have played through these.The Chronicle books (Vol 1-3) are must haves for any fan of Warcraft lore. 10/10, 5 stars, 2 thumbs up, etc.
