This book give a good quick overview on the new IRS rules governing Crypto. It’s one thing to invest, it’s another thingTo pay as little tax as legally possible. I believe we should pay only the lowest tax possible. It is our job to search for all options available for us to use to offset capital gains as much as possible. This book helps us understand the new tax ramifications.

This is a very short and easy book to read. It's very informative and an excellent refresher for tax preparers at all levels. Mario gives us great insight and detailed examples which help readers understand the tax implications when it comes to buying, selling and trading cryptocurrency. We get up to date information on what the IRS is doing to collect their capital gains tax and he really clears up the "anonimity" factor in the developing industry. Will definitely be recommending this book to my accountant friends.

The book is in VERY large font and with large spacings between lines. It makes the book look like it has way more content than what 170 pages should fill. Probably could have reduced the size to about 50 pages. This kind of practice is deceptive and and makes the reader wonder if the content is legit.

WOW! Just wow, this will clear it all up for you. So happy I bought this. I definitely recommend reading this book, it's a quick and easy read and most importantly very informative.

Taking a generally dull topic and making it interesting is a unique skill for a writer, who would have thought Mario could make taxes happy. Very current and relevant topic which people really need to understand better

It will take you 3-4 weeks to read this book from cover to cover, but it will be completely worth it. I've only been teaching for two and a half years, and, despite my feelings that I've had plenty of experience, I passed the Elementary Ed. subtests I and II thanks to this book. It has chapters that focus on important topics and facts for each content area, and then separate chapters that focus on teaching methods/strategies for each content area. At the end of each chapter there are 3-5 sample questions with the explanations for the correct and incorrect answers. There are sections with lists of important terms, and then sample tests. This book completely mirrors the actual test.

Pros:well written: anyone can read this and understand it perfectlyorganized: every content area is has its heading and subheading making it easy to followbackground content knowledge: great summarization or review on each content (e.g., science-geology, cell structure, hydrology, etc)each content area has a teaching section on how to apply it to the curriculum and teachingprovides enough practice to pass the first timeCons:question are not the same as on the exam but somewhat tied to what you learnedSummarization:I found this really helpful and useful on going over the information needed for the exam. Overall, the book is updated and very well organized making it easy to follow. I was able to pass both subtest easily the first try.Tips:I would recommend to at least giving yourself 3-4 weeks of study before each subtest. I did 4-6 weeks during my semesters. Summer breaks are the most ideal time to take the NES exams. Also, the first subtest is a little more difficult so make sure you take the social studies course before taking it. The second subtest was much easier. However, this might not be your case.

This book helped me successfully pass the first part of the NES Elementary Education test, the Reading and Social Studies test. I suggest that you study the "terms" at the end of each section because some of those are were on the actual exam. The terms are in addition to the information provided in the chapter. Unfortunately, the test is so broad that I really question whether any book can cover everything that is on the test! I specifically remember a question about "watersheds" that I was not prepared for! I, also, purchased the online test prep from Pearson and I feel it was the combination of both study guides that helped me prepare. The Cirrus Test Prep is definitely easier to read and I like the practice exams.Now, I hope it will help me pass the Math and Science test on Tuesday!

I recently bought this book to help me study for my Elementary Education Subtest I and II. I read every page, made note cards of all the information I didn’t know automatically, and took all the practice tests in the back of the book. I studied 3 days a weeks for about two hours each time for a month. I also purchased the practice tests on the testing website. Together, these materials prepared me to pass my tests! I will say, there is a lot of information in the book that is not on the test. The questions were somewhat related, however. I would recommend this book, as long as you also get the practice tests off the testing website! Together, they do the trick! Good luck on your test!

Go through this book cover to cover but also buy the study guides and practice tests from the NES website itself. I did just that and scored a 239 and a 220 and the passing score is a 220 so this method definitely got the job done. I was a little anxious to take the math and science portion just because it took me a couple of tries to pass the Praxis math. Good luck! Study hard! This is not a series of tests you can just wing.

This was a huge waste of money, nothing in this book was on the NES subtests!! When I say nothing, I mean nothing!!! I'm so upset that I wasted $38 on this book and so much time studying the wrong information!! Instead of getting this book go the NES website and buy their preparation materials so you can actually learn what will be on the test!!

This is an Amazing book!!!!!!!!! Don't buybthe Pearson study guidenonline one's, those are so bunched up together and hard, at least for me,to read. This one is spaced out, and key items are bolded, and there is a glossary after each chapter I beleive. And, short simple questions at the end of the chapters.

So far this has been the most helpful for me in studying for the NES. My friends who have taken it say that a lot of the information in the book shows up on the test and that the practice tests are accurate and what you should expect when taking it officially.

This book speaks for itself. I wanted to make my own melt and pour soaps so I could know what was in them. Maybe if I get the hang of it, I can add or take out what ever ingredient that I want to use.

Great book. Has easy to follow directions. Great photos. A must for soapmakers

Using melt and pour soap is a great way to create your own specialize soaps adding oatmeal and herbal elements you could come up with some very unique soaps I recommend this product to anyone

I have only been making soap for 4 months and had no problems with the recipes in this book.I was surprised at how easy it was to make my own melt and pour soap. I have made three of the recipes so far and each one turned out perfect. Of course I read the book cover to cover and I read the instructions several times before I started. No pictures needed. All you need is a brain that can follow the simple step by step directions directions, the ability to use a scale properly, and the ability to read the labels on your ingredients. I have made cold process, hot process, and liquid soap this was a breeze! I think it is wonderful to be able to add this to my repertoire. One of the best "how to make soap" books I have purchased. I have no idea which book Chris Redwood (the person who gave it one star) was reading but, it certainly was not this book. Worth every penny!

I prefer the book than a E book, because its much easy to read

I sell handcrafted soap, and business is good. I'm always looking for ways to save on costs, so I invested in this book. It gave me a greater appreciation for the work that goes into making my soap base and discouraged me from making my own. It is thorough and explains the process well, but I currently use too little base for my small handmade batches to make an additional investment in equipment and large quantities of ingredients. This may not seen a re positive review, but I am grateful. If you like to cook soap from scratch it would be a great guide. If, like me, you are uncertain, order a copy from the library. It explains it well.

As life would have it, a friend of mine had this book and I borrowed it. Liked it so much that I just placed an order here for it.This is a timeless book, people - and the reason that I bought it. He lays out the same arguments used today, only in a 1700s context. You can tell that this was one Priest that did a lot of thinking and reading in his spare time.Highly encourage all interested in this topic to buy this book.

This work is one of the most straightforward, brutally honest critiques of religion and it's absurdities, and how authoritarian political figures/powers dupe the masses I have yet to read... and it was authored by a priest of 40 years... around 300 years ago! This book (NOT the edition which Voltaire butchered) should be read by every thinking person in America (or, honestly, the world). I don't have the words to thank Michael Shreve enough for translating Meslier's masterpiece.

Book arrived in "new" condition and I love the book! Have not finished yet but surely will before the week is up!

This book is epic. Published just a short time after his death in 1729 this is the first time we can read the full original work in English, NOT Voltaire's heavily edited version (takes the fun bits out) which is usually called Superstition in All Ages.Ok.... Meslier hates God, all gods, he loves to mock Jesus, to pour contempt on prophets, he hates all Kings and princes BECAUSE they are kings and princes! and the bishops that support their illegitimate rule, their underlings the petty priests, cannons and monks. He dissects prophets who babble nonsense, he exposes massive flaws in the 'holy' bible's authority. I must point out unfortunately the book does mention 4 or 5 times the Jews, how they are a most despised and hated people etc, this is a sad mistake the Author made in an otherwise triumphant shotgun blast to tyranny and oppression.I'll just give some typical chapter headings:4: First proof: Of the vanity and falsity of religions, which are all only human inventions11: Weakness and vanity of the so-called miracles to authorise any truth of religion16: The wisdom and learning contained in the so-called Holy Scriptures are only human18: The miracles reported are unbelievable and the reason why41: Sixth proof: Of the vanity and falsity of the Christian religion, taken from the abuse, the unjust persecutions, and the tyranny of rulers, which it tolerates or authorizes60: Most of the learned and wisest of antiquity denied or doubted the existence of the gods76: There are many false prophets and many false miracles(there are 97 chapters)Some times the method is like a flow chart, other times he gives us his stream of conscientiousness. This book is intellectual & philosophical, it is VERY angry, it is righteous and forceful. Meslier's message must have been loud in the ears of the revolutionaries in France when they put their priests in boats.. and sank the boats >;) but in the book Meslier does generously at ONE point say his readers shouldn't kill priests. Oh boy does Meslier hate priests...He is humourous, he is ruthless, he gives us soap box chapters on animal rights and an entire chapter devoted to monks, begging them to get a proper job.Extremely radical. Height of the Enlightenment. Anti-tyranny, anti-religion, anti-state.

"Good Sense (Le Bon Sens)," published anonymously in 1772, was indeed written by d'Holbach, but it was wrongly attributed to Jean Meslier for many years. It is an entirely different book. The manuscript for "Testament" was discovered among Melier's effects after his death in 1729 (when D'Holbach was six years old), and the various extracts that were subsequently published undoubtedly influenced both d'Holbach and Diderot. An excellent account of this is given in Philipp Blom's book, "A Wicked Company."Meslier was a village priest, very ordinary by most appearances, who dutifully performed his duties to his parish for forty years, and yet all the while he retreated to his study in the evenings to secretly write a remarkable and angry anti-religious screed. It was perhaps the first overtly atheistic book to come out of the Enlightenment, and Meslier knew that to publish it during his lifetime would invite imprisonment and even death. It is a long and often tedious book, but well worth the effort.

I've been using git for years without really knowing how powerful it was. I had tried to wade through the documentation on the git site and elsewhere, and looked through Pro Git. I mostly came away intimidated and confused. This book got me out of the habit of just using github like a backup drive and into dynamic versioning of my projects. It somehow manages to be approachable and quick to read, but with a satisfying amount of depth on all the topics I've needed in my use of git.Advanced git users won't really benefit, though. This one is just for us beginners.

I never write reviews, but this is the best technology book I have ever read. I wish all instructional books were written with as much clarity, brevity and thought as this one. It walks you through baby steps all the way to the complicated concepts without blasting you with theory or complicated examples. It teaches you the building blocks so you can build the castle yourself. Kudos to Rick Umali and Manning.

I like the style, and you can either read every word for the full picture, it you can move on when you feel you've got it.

If you need to learn Git, I strongly recommend this book.First, don't be put off by the book's title. I worked through it in a few evenings.More importantly, "Learn Git in a Month of Lunches" is the only book that has actually enabled me to put Git to work. The key to the book's success is that each chapter is built around a series of "Try It Now" hands-on exercises accompanied by downloadable example files. Performing each exercise's commands and both seeing the results and having them cogently explained did more to demystify Git than any other Git learning resource I've found.Manning Press also provides a Web site for the book where one can get questions answered. Which is to say that I now use Git in conjunction with a couple of online repositories to manage my own project files *even though I don't have to*. In other words, the book enabled me to put Git to work...

If you have only makeshift knowledge of Git acquired by osmosis, cheat sheet, and asking your office buddy, you will reach a point where it becomes necessary to learn Git systematically and comprehensively. With that in mind, I have tried reading several different books about Git over the last few years, but they all lacked, well, readability, and I soon set them aside and moved on to other interests.If that is your experience too, then like me you live with minor trepidation that accompanies encounters with Git, where we are able to get by for simple operations, but with hesitation and uncertainty about what Git might actually do when we finally enter the command.What sets this new book apart is its readability, and its overall design intended to teach and explain, not just document. This is a fine book by a talented author. I am only part way in, but this is the book I have needed to learn Git thoroughly and to use it effectively and with confidence.You can use Git for years without knowing much about it, or you can read the right book and actually know what you are doing. This is the right book.

To be honest, I don't like doing anything during my lunch hour except actually eating lunch and spending a little time decompressing from the morning's work and catching up on the latest news and rumors. But I do like books such as this one that explain and illustrate key concepts in chapters that can be read in an hour or less and re-read even faster.I have tried learning Git using online documentation, and I once took a reasonably good online class in how to do software version control with Git. But I don't use Git very often, so I tend to have trouble remembering a lot of its commands and command-line options. (Git, by the way, has a LOT of commands and command-line options.)For me, "Learn Git in a Month of Lunches" has quickly proven to be an excellent reference book, especially when I start wondering such things as: Now, how again do I use git pull? And didn't the author recommend sometimes using the git fetch and git merge FETCH_HEAD commands, instead, "so you see exactly what files will be merged and how"?I also consider this book to be well structured. It starts at the beginner level and gradually works its way upward, showing how to enter specific commands and options on Git's command line. Each chapter includes "Try it now" exercises to help drive home the how-to points. And, when necessary, the differences between specific Windows, Linux/Unix and Mac command-line sequences are clearly shown.The book's first six chapters are aimed at newcomers to Git, starting with installing the software and working through creating a Git repository, adding files to the repository "and how to inspect its history." Author Rick Umali notes: "These are the basics, and if you are using Git on your own, these are probably the only chapters you need to learn."The next two chapters are devoted to "intermediate commands. You'll learn about the Git staging area. You'll also learn other ways to inspect a repository's history, beyond the basics." These two chapters can help you if need to learn how to "work as a contributor to repositories that you don't own or create."Branching and merging are covered in chapters 9 and 10. And chapters 11 through 14 focus on "how to collaborate with others: how to get changes from other people and how to submit your own changes." Very interesting, and having gone on a 5 hour ballistic sub ("boomer") ride, it filled in lots of the blanks. However, because technology has changed so much since the book was written, it's a bit out of date. Clancy did, obviously, get lots of first-hand knowledge about the subs and the submariners, and conveys the information well and in an interesting way. The photos from Clancy's collection, and others from John Gresham, are interesting but also dated in terms of both sub tech and photo quality. Was a little surprised that info on the US sub fleet ended mid-book and Clancy then picked up on the Brit fleet. Interesting comparisons and contrasts between the two countries, however.

I'm writing a novel that includes a scene inside a nuclear attack submarine and wanted to get a feel for what subs are like inside and how they operate. "Submarine" by Tom Clancy, although somewhat dated, gave me all the detail I needed to write the scene I have in mind. Great military reference!

This book is as accurate as it can possibly be. Mr. Clancy takes us thru the birth of a submarine from its inception to its final build then to when she becomes home to its crew. Mr. Clancy does an excellent job of giving us a glimpse of what it is like to serve on board one of these extraordinary craft and the training and dedication that it takes to crew one of them. If you are fascinated by military craft then this book is for you. Mr. Clancy hasn't let us down yet even with his non-fiction books. RIP sir you are truly missed.

Another great book. A friend has a son deployed on a sub. He has told me that he knows nothing about his sub or what they do. I told him to read this book and then he would know everything he wants to know.

Even though this is not one of his fictional yarns, Clancy has clearly done his homework. Over the decades he has made many friends in high places in the U.S. military who share their long experience and knowledge with him... to the great benefit of his readers. I grew up in Norfolk, Virginia, and have been on many subs through the years. This book was right on and a pleasure to read. Needs to be updated now, though, with the advances in the nuclear subs.

Too many military abreviatiions, but interesting tours thru the boats themselves.

I don't know how it stands up as military history, but it was the first of Clancy's nonfiction books that I read. It has sentimental value for me, so it had to find a home on my bookshelf.

Even though I commanded a nuclear powered submarine, I got this book because of the power of the descriptions and the useful way Clancy captures the essence of the submariner experience.
