This is definitely not a waste of money for me. I am so thankful I came across this information. About fifteen years ago I had a frozen shoulder in my right shoulder and then five years ago another frozen shoulder in my left shoulder. Since I have learned the benefits of taking extra magnesium my shoulders are getting better. My shoulders were getting more and more limited in movement and at 63 I was concerned about how bad they were going to be as time went on. The freedom of movement, I feel in my arms and shoulders, is a miracle for me. Dr. Carolyn Dean's information makes sense to me because if I understand "frozen shoulder" correctly, it is calcification in the shoulder joint. It is my understanding the extra magnesium I'm taking is breaking down the calcium deposits in my shoulder joint. I'm not a doctor and may not understand scientifically, but I can tell you since I started taking "magnesium glycinate" six weeks ago my arms and shoulders are so much better, and if they didn't get any better I would be satisfied with the healing that has taken place. Taking the extra magnesium is the ONLY change I have made. I ordered the liquid magnesium and the liquid minerals Dr. Carolyn Dean sells because I understand her concern about absorption and purity. I have been interested in nutrition for a long time and take other supplements but always felt there was something still missing. That missing link for me was the extra magnesium because I have taken calcium magnesium supplements for a long time. I use to take a 2:1 calcium magnesium and then started a 1:1 calcium magnesium. Great book, informative. Magnesium is SO IMPORTANT and the majority of people are deficient and are unaware of the deficiency as doctors just prescribe more medications without knowing or caring that most drugs deplete magnesium, causing complex problems that doctors treat with additional drugs. This book answered ALL of my questions concerning prescribed medications and the damaging side effects caused by them.

Dr. Dean's book is an invaluable resource. She's clear and concise. All the research is done for you. Make no mistake magnesium is the miracle you've been waiting for. My heart palpitations and muscle cramps have stopped. My bowels move regularly. I sleep better. Get your magnesium and you'll feel better too.

If you have ANY health challenges at all, especially chronic things, magnesium deficiency is a likely aspect of whatever the picture is. Dr. Dean has figured out really important information and product line to reset your mineral levels. Not just another doc with a supplement company. She's credible, grounded and people are having fabulous results on her program. Magnesium is utilized in 800 enzyme processes and the detox system, just for starters. I tried pretty much everything- years with MD's getting worse and worse and worse, a full ND program for a year that I think might have made me worse in addition to being VERY expensive and not covered by insurance., I worked with a wonderful LAC and herbalist who kept me alive, brain rewiring with Annie Hopper (which helped but was not the whole picture) etc.If i had started with Carolyn's book and program, I believe i could have passed all that stuff by and gone straight to getting, staying and being well. She really encourages people to think for themselves and pay attention to their own bodies in a complete reversal of authoritarianism in medicine that is generally practiced. So, so so worth it to hear her message!She references highly credible multiple research studies that you can read yourself to back up her claims. (I read a bunch of them.. they hold up). If you have figured out that chemical meds are not the answer for you- her Re-set program may be the Godsend for you that it has been for me and the few people (so far) in my life who have been up for trying the intervention on themselves. This book and my applying it to my recovery from MCS disease could have saved me 4 really horrible years of debilitating illness and my entire retirement savings spent on expensive supplements and protocols that never really delivered the stability that my system is starting to achieve after not even 1 month following her protocol. Everyone is different, and, 80-% of us are magnesium deficient. I promise you, she is worth listening to. Best, most useful info I have found in 4 years of researching and trying things with getting my life back on the line. Happy to say i am doing terrific and the more I listen to her radio show and read her blogs, the more I appreciate her work and contribution to health care in general and my ability to take care of my system and understand what is going on within it in new and empowering ways.

I really wanted to like this book. While it was jammed packed with information, it didn't have much at all about magnesium chloride, which I was most interested in learning about. While there are many types of Magnesium, the author pushes her product every chance she gets & in a very repetitive manner. For this reason, I give the book 3 stars. The book leans heavily towards the authors product making the book seem bias to the other Magnesium products out there.

I got this book on Wednesday hoping to learn a few of the tricks just to have fun with some friends at the bar. I gotta tell you these tricks are so cool. I will say this if I was a betting man I would have made a lot of money Saturday night but luckily for my friends I just did a few for fun. The dime in the glass was my favorite. I will keep trying to learn more and maybe I will make some money off some strangers. Thanks for the fun.

Very informative.I have always wondered how to do some of these little tricks. I highly recommend this fun fact well put together little book. I was just browsing looking for a quick something to read when I happened on to this. Well worth the couple of bucks you pay for what you get with this one. I will deffinetly keep this one handy.

This book is surely not a scam book as the title seems to suggest, and how you use the information is entirely up to you... But personally I would use it for general fun to liven up or entertain the party or gathering. This book is very easy to follow as it uses illustrations or pictures to make sure you can understand what the writer is saying. Very nicely done. I will remember to reference it before my next party. It involves a little trickery, a lot of humor, and a whole lot of science. Some of the stuff you can pull off I never thought was possible. I can definitely see this as adding fun no matter what the setting.

This short ebook on the old bar bets and scams was a very fun read. I knew most of them but it is always good to relearn them again. These are fun to do so try them out on some sucker.

We met Bill Dahl on one of his trips to Chapala and developed an immediate kinship - both for our love of Mexico and our love of our furbabies. We read his book almost as soon as it was released. We were in the midst of packing up to make our move to Lakeside, so it was an instant eye-opener and more than a little disheartening to discover so many issues that were not on our radar.We began to do our own research based on the claims in Bill's book and found that indeed, it was a revealing and well-investigated writing. The crime statistics are on the rise, but, as we have been informed by long term residents (including nationals) this is a recurring event every six years before/during election and the installation of a new President. Since reading "Beneath the Surface..." we have read local news articles affirming his findings, but we have also read of proposed "fixes" to many issues included in the book.The issue of lake pollution and its effect on air quality requires more research outside that cited in the book. My husband is a Research Scientist with 30 years experience in the study of environmental pollutants and the effects of those pollutants on human health. He did research for various governmental agencies including USEPA, NIH, NIEHS, and for clients in the private sector. There has been research conducted on lake water but that for air quality is nearly non-existent. Several studies have been published that document water-related exposures of native peoples to lead, mercury, arsenic, the insecticide dimethoate, and the herbicide glyphosate, which has recently been identified as a carcinogen. Analysis of biological samples showed exposures to the above-listed chemicals and were associated with increased incidences of kidney disease, attention and memory deficits, and fine motor skills that would impact writing and drawing abilities of the children. Chemical analysis revealed heavy metals in fish, especially bottom-dwelling species such as carp. All of the people studied drank water from the lake and ate fish from the lake. Poverty and malnutrition was widespread in the area and this can create a vulnerability of the studied children that could increase the incidence of effects from exposures to pollutants. People that drink only purified water and limit consumption of fish should be impacted minimally from pollution in Lake Chapala.Pollution of Lake Chapala should have a minimal impact on air quality. When water levels in the lake are low, dust from the dry lakebed is frequently suspended and visible in the air lakeside. This would cause human inhalation exposure to pollutants adsorbed to the dust. However, there are no data to show the possible magnitude of this exposure. Air quality in Guadalajara can be poor, but its transport to Lake Chapala is intermittent. The predominant winds in the area are from the south, southwest and southeast and pollutants would generally be moved away from Lake Chapala area that lies to the south of Guadalajara.Bill has visited several issues regarding pollution and effects on residents of Lakeside, however, additional studies would need to be performed in order to state conclusively that air quality alone presents a grave health risk to the population.

We recently read Bill Dahl's book, "Chapala: Beneath the Surface". We experienced Lake Chapala and Ajijic this past summer, as part of our decision to retire in Mexico. Reading his reminiscence of Guadalajara and Ajijic rang very true for us. His treatment of his initial excitement about an area of Mexico that he loved, and his bittersweet visit to the region, was a mirror for us of the initial excitement, followed by the acceptance of what had happened to this area, that we, too experienced. Bill's description of the current state of the State of Jalisco was balanced and accurate. We can both attest to the accuracy of his description. It is painful to admit that paradise is damaged, but as Bill eloquently points out, it is not lost. It is just that fixing it is going to be a very difficult and complex problem to solve. He makes the case that, in fact, the problem cannot be solved by merely denying there is a problem. We loved the town of Ajijic. It is a beautiful, quaint place filled with a lot of wonderful people, just as Bill described it. But it is very much in trouble and badly needs comprehensive, multi layered, ongoing help. The area needs honest acknowledgement of the depth and breadth of the challenges of the environmental status of the Lake, by those people who love it and have chosen it to be their new home. But in order for the fulfillment of the dream of living in the paradise they thought would be there for their golden years, these hopeful residents must honestly accept the problem as it is and then completely embrace a realistic mitigation plan. Bill draws an accurate, tentatively hopeful picture of the current state of the Lake and it's environs, and uses some down-to-Earth suggestions drawn directly from "AMLO's political playbook" to sketch a long-term, sustainable solution. We decided, before we ever heard of Bill Dahl, that we would not be able to survive moving to Ajijic, as we had planned, and it was heart-breaking, so his treatment of Ajijic made us realise that we really had, indeed, made the right decision to not settle there. We endorse both his description of the problem and his honest, but very difficult to implement mitigation plan. Well done, Mr. Dahl!- Dr. and Ms. Franklin J. Rudolph, PhD, PE.

Bill captures the serious nature of water pollution at Lake Chapala. It's an eye opener and most likely a downer for many people - even me - who have been considering a retirement move to the Lake Chapala area in Mexico. I too attended the Focus On Mexico seminar and found it to be superb in terms of information gathering. And, as a professional engineer with more than 30 years of worldwide experience in water distribution and wastewater treatment, I was horrified at what Bill has revealed.The problem is correctable, as Bill points out. However, my view is that more than government agencies and committees will be needed. Taxation will need to increase to support the infrastructure improvements. When I purchased this book, I was taking a year long course of study in the Kabbalah. This book provided practical application of the teachings of the Kabbalah. I would definitely recommend it to the student looking for applying these teachings to daily life.

The clearest guidance book to the Kabbalah that I have ever read. Easy to read and contains very practical and easy to follow exercises. A must have for every serious Kabbalah enthusiast.

I ordered the Kindle edition which apparently only included the Preface. Quite a rip off as we used to say...

I thought this book helped break down a very complex subject into digestible segments that were easy to understand.

On only the second use, I was curious to see the exact definition of the word conflate. Entered it as search term, and "word not found." Tried browsing "C" and found the definitions jumped from "conflagration" to "conflict." Had to go home and look it up in my REAL dictionary. In my humble opinion, an incomplete product like this should be free. Woefully inadequate, can't wait to see what other common words are left out. Pain in the ass, really.

The other reviewers appear to address the printed version rather than the Kindle-specific version. I am focusing on the Kindle Application.Strengths -- easily used under Kindle platform, terse, usually is clear in distinguishing parts of speech, and it can be used as the default dictionary.Weaknesses1. Definitions are not necessarily any more complete than those from the New Oxford American Dictionary(already built-in on Kindle). Several that I used tonight were less so.2. Definitions for one part of speech are often dependent on another definition listed for another part of speech (a weakness of many dictionaries that is annoying for more complex or unfamiliar words)----Simple example: the word anger is both a noun and a verb, Thus they define the verb form as "to make angry".3. Thesaurus component is okay and gives additional ideas for the verb "anger". However antonyms are very limited if the purpose is to use this as a writing resource. Very few choices.----For example: antonyms for anger (verb) were delight, gratify and please. But other common options are missing such as calm, sooth, pacify. One would have to keep browsing and unless you set this as the default, you keep ending up in another dictionary when trying to do that.4. Word Origins are sometimes given, mostly abbreviated and with less detail than in Kindle's Default Dictionary.I have not compared word counts. Sheer mass of definitions is a misleading index of quality.

Let's face it, with today's self correcting word processors, the commonality of these dictionaries and thesaurus books have almost gone extinct. Still, they are excellent vocabulary and grammar aids one should have, either on your tablet or your desk. In my generation, these things were coveted gifts one received from parents and grandparents when you moved into middle school or high school. The internet wasn't there to lessen the workload. These books are timeless, and even though I do most of my writing using my laptop, I still enjoy flipping through actual pages of a book to find that which I seek.

This dictionary / thesaurus combination book is serving its purpose well for my two elementary aged boys. They keep it in a handy place and occasionally will look up words for reading or writing assignments. It is a soft cover book which does not take up too much space and the book has vast enough content that most words my young boys look up will be found in there. While it has become easier to simply search-engine words in a computer, knowing how to navigate an actual book is a skill I think it is important for my kids to know.

Definitions are in regular print and synonyms are in Gray beneath each word.. Nice that they're combined so you don't have to search twice. Got it for my son so he wouldn't rely on the internet to search for vocabulary definitions. He thinks it's torture. Totally worth every penny. I just wish it was hard back because we've had it maybe a couple weeks and the paper cover is already all torn up.

This review is for the Kindle Fire version only. The dictionary is absolutely useless.It does not have a search function for looking for words, it does not have an index so you could at least go to the beginning letter of the word you want, it does not have page numbers so you could guess as to what might be the general area a word might be at.You have to flip through individual pages just like you are reading a book.This is complete junk and is useless as a reference book. It would be quicker to drive to the store and by a paper bound dictionary to look the word up then it would be to use this dictionary.I am going to be contacting the seller and asking for my money back, I will never use this dictionary.

The miracle of this volume is a word with a definition followed by synonyms and antonyms where applicable. It could lead one's mind to wander, follow a journey of related words. For my 4th grader whose mom points him to the googleverse, this is a godsend.

Actually, I would prefer to give it zero stars. The problem with it is the search process: when you give it a term to look up, it starts at the beginning of the database, and searches through to the end. On my admittedly low end tablets, this is an intolerably long process and I find the whole package unuseable. If one could search between word lookup and thesaurus search it would probably be usable. However, they have not made this capability, if it exists, discoverable. I will look into returning it for just the dictionary. Thumbs down on this product unless you have a blazingly fast tablet.

It is encouraging, directing and then it hands you the reality: "things do not always turn out the way you dream" Maybe they turn out the way they should so God can use you. My husband wanted to read this book after attending a men's breakfast at church. He started reading and finished it in record time for him (generally he is a slow reader). He told me you got to read this. I was skeptical but, started reading the first few pages and was hooked. The story is about a person receiving about 90 letters over the time he is going through cancer treatment. The letters are priceless as well as their application. The writer gives nuggets of wisdom to make it through life's difficulties. Share it with someone you care about.Remember I am strong when you are strong!

I was given this book by my sister because I am going through treatments -- not chemo but surgery & radiation. It was such an inspiration to me and I appreciated it tremendously.
