The story was enjoyed by my daughter (she is a big Geronimo Stilton fan) but the page layout on the Kindle only utilized a small portion of the page space. I exhausted all efforts in the page set up to try to increase the sizing but to no avail. Only the pictures could be increased in size and that had to be done one page/picture at a time. I will ensure to "preview" all book purchases in the future where available to avoid this.

I think it's about a little mouse being alone on Christmas eve but he isn't alone on Christmas because all his folks and friends and family come to surprise the little mouse on Christmas eve when he did not know they were come to celebrate Christmas eve with the little mouse and they sat down and had a big feast and Christmas eve was the best day of their lives

Geronimo Stilton has invited the whole family to his house for Christmas, but everyone decide to spend the holidays somewhere else.So poor Geronimo is left feeling so lonely and abandoned he goes wandering the streets, encouraging random strangers that he runs into - including a young mugger who has nearly attacked him in the park! - to come celebrate with him at his home. Then EVERYONE Geronimo personally knows, even the ENTIRE newspaper staff that he supervises, all show up to surprise him! Luckily, Geronimo magically has enough pie and soup available to feed the ENORMOUSE crowd as well as have enough room for ALL of the guests that one memorable Christmas night.Cute story, but I don't really care for the rather pious message at the ending: "Dear mouse friends, how will you celebrate your Christmas? I hope you will spend it with someone who loves you."Save it for Valentine's Day, old mouse! >:(Geronimo is just too AFRAID to be alone especially on Christmas, so why else would he welcome a potential criminal into his own house? He could always invite his young crush, Petunia Pretty Paws, but she hasn't yet been created at the time, LOL. How about Shadow? Sure, she may be a sneaky crook, but she's a beautiful young blonde like Petunia is - and Geronimo really likes beautiful young blondes at least 20 years his junior, doesn't he?Never mind; Shadow would probably leave Geronimo bound and gagged with only socks on and take all his valuables, too."You can have all the cheese in the world, but if you don't have love in your life, the cheese will taste like moldy socks! Love makes everything better."Quit being an agony aunt, old mouse! >:(I am a little older than Geronimo is (yep, I know, I'm not part of the target audience, of course), but I live alone and my lavish Christmas dinners that I make for myself not only taste fine, but downright DELICIOUS, too. Nyahhh. ;P Just learn to be a bit more independent, Mister Stilton.Geronimo also hates Christmas being commercialized, so he makes cheapskate gifts (like a painted rock or a picture frame all made out of construction paper) for his family that are actually EASY for little kiddies to make themselves - with the help of instructions printed on the pull-out game attached to the end of the book, of course.Merry Christmas, BTW. :)

Why? because it was really short and it needs more adventurous details in it that is my review but it is a goood book. (Just to let you know, this review was written by my daughter, Abby, who is a HUGE Geronimo Stilton fan.)

I bought this book for my granddaughter's kindle but it is unreadable it's so small and the letters do not get any larger no matter what we do. She doesn't want to read it now. I'm not pleased that this is not made clear in the description of the book. I want my money back for this.

My 8 year old son just loves the Geronimo Stilton series. I have only read one of the books, and they are very cute. I like the creative way the author uses fonts and colors to express emotion in the story.

We bought several Geronimo Stilton for my granddaughter. These were books she asked for and seems to like them. I don't know a lot about the books but I can say she sat down shortly after Christmas and read one of the books that night. She must have thought they were good or she would have put it down. Amazon's price was good and we received them when they said we would.

I really liked this book because it was very friendly and sweet. Geronimo made lots of new friends and I liked the big surprise at the end, plus the food sounded delicious especially because I 💗 CHEESE. And I liked how his family told him they were going on trips but they were actually going to surprise him.

Review

“The Jacobs/Moses war was educational, a living curriculum now encapsulated in Flint’s excellent study.”—The New York Review of Books “[A] winning account . . . dramatically described . . . [Anthony] Flint looks at a seminal struggle of twentieth-century city planning, one that involved two giants with utterly differing views of how cities should look and develop.”—The Boston Globe“[This book] shows how these mythic characters shaped each other’s work and reputations. . . . If there’s such a thing as beach reading for the urban studies set, it’s Wrestling with Moses.”—San Francisco Chronicle   “Lively and informative . . . Wrestling with Moses is about those who fought back against the power broker and in so doing helped set the stage for the city’s revitalization.”—The Wall Street Journal   “Well told . . . one of America’s greatest David and Goliath stories.”—The Hartford Courant

I was born in the Midwest and worked housing construction, landscaping, and installed storm doors and storm windows all in the southwest suburban sprawl of the Chicago area. It was dismal over priced over sized housing that was so uniform and desolate to be nothing more than a glorified prison camp. The suburbs are a terrible form of modern living. Cold, isolated, and separated from the life of the city by miles of Illinois highway that is endlessly under construction. And jammed with traffic. A farce of existence in a first world country. Then I heard about the new urbanism movement. Speck, Kunstler, Leigh etc. on TED talks and watched about N.Y. transforming the high line and closing off Times Square to automobiles. Finally people are getting it and it was because of Jane Jacobs. Moses should have stuck to bridges and subways and parks. This book highlights an important cultural battle between the yin and yang of American planning. A big country needs big projects but not at the expense of communities. Jane Jacobs was the counter balance to the tyranny of uncontrolled developers and architects who don,t have a clue about daily living at the ground level.Hopefully the future will bring great community based urban planning, that Europe has always enjoyed, to every part of America for all types of people, old, young, rich, working class, black, white, Latino, and Asian. This book helped tell the story about why Jane Jacobs battle with Moses was history in the making and why communities needs should transcend the focus on national issues.

This is an insightful description of critical battles over New York public policy plans. Robert Moses, who led various New York City transportation and planning departments, proposed the creation of a ten lane elevated highway in Manhattan. It would require tearing down 400 buildings and remove 2,200 families and 800 businesses. Jane Jacobs was a leader of community groups that opposed and killed this proposal.Jane Jacobs wrote for "Architectural Forum" when she was assigned to write about city planner Edward Bacon and how Philadelphia center city neighborhoods were being torn down for redevelopment projects. Bacon took Jacobs on a tour and proudly showed her much new construction. Jacobs asked Bacon "where are the people?" Jacobs began questioning urban renewal programs. The Federal government policies known as Title I, following the philosophy of Le Corbusier that favored large and functional structures, favored razing poorer neighborhoods so new private development could replace them. A problem in New York City was the newly constructed structures were not necessarily better than what they replaced. No one ever asked the residents what they preferred. In East Harlem, relocating 50,000 people also came at the expense of 1,100 stores. Jane Jacobs noted the residents rejected their newer superstores and instead preferred the local smaller stores, now located further away.Moses proposed constructing a road that would cross Washington Square Park. This was the park where Jane Jacobs took her children. This set up a clash between an urban renewal power, Moses, and a critic, Jacobs.Moses held as many as 12 appointed public positions simultaneously. When legislation created a commission he wanted to control, he had the legislation created so he would be the obvious candidate to fill the important position within that commission.Moses used a strategy of building projects quickly. By doing this, opposition to his ideas lacked sufficient time to organize against them. Moses had laws created to enable rapid construction that also provided him ease in condemning land.Moses ran as the Republican nominee for Governor of New York in 1934. He called the incumbent Governor Herbert Lehman corrupt. Lehman won easily. President Roosevelt wanted Moses out of power and threatened to deny Federal funds to projects Moses directed. Moses leaked this to the press, who faulted Roosevelt for being involved in petty local politics. Roosevelt, Governor Lehman, and Mayor LaGuardia all felt this pressure and decided not to seek to remove Moses. Being able to defy the elected leaders and remain in power only Moses appear stronger.Moses was known for being vindictive. He was also known for keeping tabs on Commission and Council members and blackmailing them for support in return for keeping quite on extraneous love affairs or drunkenness. Moses even ignored the law, causing Mayor LaGuardia to have the police make certain Moses didn't have something torn down that legally wasn't supposed to be destroyed. In 1949, several members of Congress feared cities were declining. Title I of the Housing Act of 1949 sought to save cities by encouraging new private development. The primary means to build anew was to tear down existing low income and relatively cheaper to purchase neighborhoods. Mayor William O'Dwyer named Moses as Construction Coordinator, Chairman of the Emergency Committee on Housing, and Chairman of the Committee on Slum Clearance. New York received $70 million in Title I funds, compared to Chicago which received the second most amount of these funds at $30 million. Many of the new developments that were constructed met the aims of the private developers. More profitable housing options for the upper and middle classes were built rather than housing for the displaced poorer residents. Even the housing that was created often cut corners in construction and were not as nice as expected. The displaced low income often could not afford for afford to move back into the new constructions and those who could afford them often were disappointed.Walter O'Malley, owner of the Brooklyn Dodgers baseball team, noted most of the Dodgers fan base was moving further away from the Dodgers' stadium, Ebbetts Field. Many fans were moving into more distant Long Island locations. The stadium did not have a Long Island Railway (LIRR) stop and had only 700 parking spaces. Moses refused the Dodgers access to LITT. Moses instead wanted to build a new stadium in Flushing, where Shea Stadium eventually would be built. O'Malley decided to move the Dodgers to Los Angeles.Moses proposed extending Fifth Avenue through Washington Park. This project called for destroying many Greenwich Village buildings. A new housing development Moses proposed for the area would destroy 130 buildings and displace 150 families.Moses saw Washington Square Park as a decaying area with broken benches. He saw it as a target for urban revitalization. Area residents saw it as their park and sanctuary. Neighbors in 1935 formed the Save Washington Square Commission in reaction to Moses's plans. Moses threatened to cut off improvement funds if the residents continued resisting. He refused to meet with the group. In 1939, Moses submitted a second but similar plan. Moses again threatened to cut off New Deal funds. This divided the citizens group and they endorsed Moses's plan by a one vote margin. A splinter group continued opposing Moses. They gained thousands of signatures opposed the plan. This opposition was joined by a group of nearby New York University (NYU) students who feared for pedestrian safety. Manhattan Borough President Stanley Isaacs insisted that approval of the project would require the support of neighborhood voters.Moses reacted by vilifying the neighborhood opponents as elitists who were stopping progress. Moses met with New York University officials to seek their support. Moses decided to play a waiting game to wear down the opposition.Neighborhood groups began obtaining their own data on traffic counts. They did not accept the official city data. Opponents conducted letter writing campaigns to officials and newspapers.Moses used the tactic of postponing public hearings shortly before they were to be held and then quickly called for them. He hoped this would minimize the number of people who objected from attending.Jacobs decided her group would insist there be no vehicles allowed at Washington Square. They would not challenge the broad Moses vision, yet they would refuse to compromise on that one point. They would not agree to a two lane road instead of the proposed four lane road,Lewis Mumford agreed with Jacobs's group. He saw it as commercial profit at the public expense. Members of the Village Independent Democrats, such as Edward Koch, supported Jacobs's cause. Both Congressional nominees endorsed Jacob's goals, including the eventual winner John V. Lindsay. An alternative newspaper, the "Village Voice", wrote supportively on the neighborhood battles against Moses. Eleanor Roosevelt joined in support. Then, support began emerging form political power insiders. Secretary of State Carmine DeSapio, a leader of the Tammany Democratic Party organization and a Greenwich Village resident, spoke out for saving Washington Square. Moses realized he had been defeated once DeSapio was against him. From there, support for saving Washington Square increased to including Mayor Robert Wagner and Governor Averell Harriman.Moses retreated and developed a new proposal in 1959. If Washington Park were to be closed to vehicles, he wanted the streets around the park widened to 80 feet with rounded corners. Instead, Mayor Wagner in 1963 cut off all vehicle traffic, including buses. This yielded 1 ½ more acres of parkland by eliminating the roads. The location where Moses wanted to become Fifth Avenue south is now LaGuardia Place with a statue of Fiorello LaGuardia. Where the road would have continued south of Washington Park is where Bobst Library of NYU now stands.Jacobs had a separate struggle with Moses. Moses sought to construct the Lower Manhattan Expressway. This was a project that worked well with the Federal government goals of creating superhighways according to the National Interstate and Defense Highways Act. Moses saw several highways connective Manhattan to its regions as important to maintaining Manhattan's economic and social vitality. He had the Cross Bronx Expressway built and sought to connect it to northern Manhattan. Moses proposed a Mid-Manhattan expressway running from the Lincoln Tunnel to the Queens Midtown Tunnel.Father Gerard LaMountan was upset that this proposed expressway would mean the Church of the Most Holy Crucifix would be torn down. He turned to Jane Jacobs for help. Jacobs decided she could endure another fight when she saw he also had recruited neighbors and skilled organizers. There were religious and political leaders and understanding that La Cosa Nostra was not pleased to see its territory devastated. Bob Dylan wrote a song of support.Herman Badillo wrote a report for the city claiming all displaced people would be provided with new housing. The opposition was not satisfied. Jane Jacobs stood up against making it easier to drive vehicles in New York City. She encouraged mass transit, foot transit, and bicycling. Moses argued for the need to act to avoid traffic congestion.Moses let Jacobs and her associates win an initial victory at halting the project. Moses often used delays to his advantage and would wait for the opportunity to renew his fights for his proposals. Moses declared that Jacobs was an obstructionist.Rep. John V. Lindsay opposed the project and was elected Mayor. Moses still fought, declaring that the SoHo neighborhood was blighted and should be destroyed. The growing historic preservation movement differed. Jacobs thus had new allies in people seeking to preserve the history of Lower Manhattan.Mayor Lindsay faced a threatened strike of 200,000 city workers if he delivered on his promise to stop construction projects. Lindsay agreed to an open trench highway that would destroy 650 homes and 400 businesses, compared to the 2,000 homes and 00 business structures Moses had proposed. Jacobs and advocates pushed to kill the idea. Jacobs was arrested for protesting. The arrest galvanized support for Jacobs. Lindsay agreed to kill the proposal.Governor Rockefeller reduced Moses's powers. Rockefeller agreed with killing the Lower Manhattan project as well as another Moses proposal for a bridge across the Long Island Sound. Moses remained a consultant but his influence was mostly gone.Jacobs wrote several influential books on city planning issues. Moses retired soon afterwards.Jacobs continued being upset at redevelopment plans that began with little or no public notification. She continued working to preserve parks and neighborhoods in the West Village against redevelopment. Rep. Lindsay joined with the neighborhood activists in protesting that not enough notice was given. Jacobs appealed to the press as well as to political leaders, and got their attention. The plan to develop the West Village was led by James Felt, Chairman of the City Planning Commission, and developer J. Clarence Davies, Jr., Chairman of the Department of Real Estate and Director of Housing and Redevelopment Board (a descendant of one of Moses's previous commissions). Davies declared the West Village was blighted. They sought to diminish the neighborhood activists by creating a group, Middle Income Cooperators of the Village and its subsidiary, the West VillageSite Tenants' Committee. To support their plans, Roger Starr and his group, the Citizens Housing and Planning Council, also endorsed the redevelopment efforts. David Rockefeller gave his support.Jacobs filed a lawsuit to stop the project. The Judge ordered that the blight designation be justified. He also ruled the city had not met public hearing requirements.State Comptroller Arthur Levitt ran against Mayor Wagner for renomination as Mayor. Levitt supported stopping the West Village redevelopment plans. Wagner then also agreed to oppose the proposal and to increase citizen participation. Felt, noting the City Planning Commission is independent of the Mayor, continued pushing for the development. The City Planning Commission officially designated the West Village as blighted.Felt tried to use the tactic of suddenly scheduling hearings. There was a secret sympathizer against the proposal working in Felt's office who always tipped off Jacobs as to when the meetings were being announced. Jacob successfully rallied people to attend. The neighborhood activists determined that private developer David Rose Associates had already been chosen to build the redevelopments. The group discovered that the developers were supporting the community groups supporting development. They found they even used the same typewriter. The activists then obtained over 100 notarized statements from members of the pro-development groups stating they had been tricked into joining. Davies halted the efforts to redevelop West Village. Davies resigned his post within a month and Felt resigned two years later.Jacobs, in her writings, would argue that city planning was an impossible task. She argued that neighborhoods had their own structures that shouldn't' be changed by city planners.City planner Edward Logue denounced Jacobs's writing as "a plea for the status quo." Roger Staff responded that "if Jacobs had visited Pompeii and concluded that nothing makes a city so beautiful as covering it with ashes." Starr notes Jacobs's vision would do little to prevent gentrification from driving low income people out of the neighborhoods.Jacobs joined movement for historic preservation, including fighting tearing down Penn Station. Her writings are heralded by many libertarians.

"Wrestling with Moses" contains abbreviated biographies of Jane Jacobs and Robert Moses and accounts of the three fields on which they did battle. The author doesn't pretend to be impartial. Jacobs is clearly his hero and he presents her as the valiant underdog to the shadowy overlord. And, of course, he celebrates when she wins all three battles.I read "Wrestling with Moses" simultaneously with "The Power Broker" on Moses and "The Death and Life of Great American Cities" by Jacobs. "Wrestling with Moses" s is the most lightweight of the three books. It is a light and easy read. Despite the less intense nature of the book, there are still valuable insights to be gained. The first is the amount of momentum that can be acquired by someone like Moses. By the time Jacobs first opposed him, he had been the dominant personality in shaping the configuration of New York City for nearly three decades. He had developed an aura of inevitability.Next, it is insightful to look at the tactics employed by Jacobs. Mostly she and her adherents relied on grassroots organizing and mobilization. But Jacobs was willing to slip into civil disobedience when required and was arrested on multiple occasions as a result.Lastly, it is interesting to note the story of Jane Jacobs as developer. Following the defeat of Moses' urban redevelopment plan for Greenwich Village, Jacobs and other local residents formed an organization to build housing that they thought would fit better within the context of their neighborhood. One of their proposed buildings was eventually constructed, but as the costs rose, various building features had to be eliminated. The architectural critics panned the final result and many Village residents were unhappy with the resulting rents. Jacobs fell prey to the same issues that trouble many developers. Even the best-intentioned developer can't avoid the pressure that the marketplace imposes. One weakness of the Jacobs versus Moses premise is that nowhere in the book do Jacobs and Moses come face to face. Indeed, they probably never met in life. However, we are given two humorous stories of their distant interplay.Publisher Bennett Cerf sent an advance copy of "The Death and Life of Great American Cities" to Moses for his review. Moses returned it with a note reading, "I am returning this book you sent me. Aside from the fact that it is intemperate and inaccurate, it is also libelous. ... Sell this junk to someone else."On the other side, Jacobs and her husband Bob received an advance copy of "The Power Broker". They lay in bed, trading sections back and forth, alternating between horror and amusement over the depth of Moses' duplicity laid bare for the first time.If you have the time, either "The Death and Life of Great American Cities" or "The Power Broker" is worth the effort. But if time doesn't permit, then "Wrestling with Moses" is a fine introduction to the urban planning antipodes represented by towering personalities of Jane Jacobs and Robert Moses.

Ok I have cats. BUT I DO NOT APPRECIATE cat knick knacks etc. despite many nice people going there for me. This calendar is the one major exception. We enjoy it. We try to find it at Wally world because it's cheaper but once in a while since our nearest Wally world is 100 miles away we miss out. And then we turn to Amazon to order one. Love it yes once in a while Gary P seems to repeat a drawing or similar one now and again. Don't mind at all. Our cats they do not care we see humor or enjoy these drawings....they are cats it's beneath them to care...but ours are nice kit's and they indulge us or wee bit of whimsy. We after all are just humans. Please if any relatives happen to see this NO we don't want a kitty anything please. That includes a real kitty!!!!! LOL

I always love Gary Patterson's work. He never fails. Every year I purchase both a mini and full size cat calendar. The full sized I have at home and the mini I keep near my work station this way I can share his cat/mouse humor with my co-workers. Love!!!

Gary Patterson does it again! He put out yet another stunning calendar. His calendars are such unique works of art, that you can't simply throw them out at the end of the year. They make a great gift too!

Love, love, love Gary Patterson’s cat calendars!! I ALWAYS get one every year! Before I retired I kept one in my office as it always made me smile. Now I keep one at home. It makes me laugh every time I look at it.

I have been using these wall calendars for years. In addition to the great pictures, I like the good size box for each date. I have plenty of room to make notes in the date box. (ex. Dr's appts., meeting times, etc.) Month, day, dates, and holidays are clearly marked with large enough print to easily read. I plan to continue purchasing Gary Paterson's calendars in the future.

I buy several versions each year for myself and family. Any animal lover knows by looking at these calendars Gary Patterson knows and loves animals as well.

I get one of these every year to hang in my office. People literally stop by at the beginning of each month to see what the new picture is and to try to find the mouse!

I buy one of these wall calendars every year (and have done so for a very long time). They never disappoint and are as cute as can be!

Great resource

Great book, a classic on the design scene.

Product in good conditions and good contents.I really liked it and i recommend it a lot. the price was nice.

This book is mainly a pictorial of 291 poster designs from the very late 1800's up until the late 1960's. There are many great and important examples found in this book, both well and lesser known posters are showcased. Some parts of this book could described as egotistical going into the 50's and 60's as there are many Müller-Brockmann works shown; however, I found this to be quite relevant with Swiss design of that time being so revolutionary. Then again I am a great admirer of his work. Additionally, the writings throughout the book are quite enlightening and are not too heavy to read. The printing quality is great, examples are large, shown in full colour and printed on very nice stock. The creator's name, size, year, type of reproduction, and descriptions of the purpose are included for each poster. One of the pro's to this book was the inclusion of these very brief descriptions. A very good piece of information to include in a design collective as it is essential in order to judge whether or not a piece of design is effective; something a few overrated books on identity could use (e.g. Los Logos).

I just feel happy for finding this amazing book just when I was needing it. Muller-Brockmann did a pioneer work by researching and assembling all the historical posters in one single publication. Useful for teachers, students and graphic design professionals who love posters.

The text is very poorly formatted and full of typos. The paragraphs aren't even properly separated. It looks like someone copy-and-pasted an online version into a Word doc. (Since this work is in the public domain, that might be exactly what happened.) It's also freakishly large: This book is 10 inches tall by 7 inches wide by 2 inches thick. AND it's a flimsy paperback, so its huge size makes to flop around terribly. It's a crude copy, not professional at all.

I won't go into the literary or artistic worth of Anna Karenina except for one thing. Tolstoy's writing about the Russian countryside and even agricultural practice is so picturesque and atmospheric that you feel like you can smell the various crops. Superb writing. This Carefully Crafted Classics version of Anna Karenina was excellent. The Maude translation, yes, does show its age, and more than a bit. But it has to be better than certain translations of other classic Russian works I've read over the past couple of years. And I appreciated the embedded footnotes. They provided good explanation of context and translation of the frequent use of French without wrecking the flow. This version is a steal at the price and highly recommended. I'm subtracting a star because of the dated translation. Also because of the weird use of Western first name and Russian patronymic, which I find jarring but which other readers might not object to at all.How neat would it be to be able to toggle a phrase from English to Russian, just to see what the original was? C'mon, developers; help us out here.

Anna Karenina, the 1918 Maude translation of Leo Tolstoy's 1870's masterpiece on the Kindle, is as fine a version as any for anyone who has never gotten immersed in the post-serfdom Russian society of these fabulously drawn characters' lives. I decided to take this cheap version for the first my time through, and I absolutely loved it.Anna Karenina is much more than a story about a passionate love affair and the heart wrenching effects that come about of it. Anna's intense and often volatile relationship with Count Vronsky, and the wronged husband Karenin in the middle of it--the way they deal with each and how society in turn deals with them--sure enough is the most dramatic part of the book, and the part that gets the most attention. Yet the heart and soul of this epic I feel comes out of the sweet romantic relationship between two other characters: Levin and Kitty. Their relationship is every bit as captivating as Anna and Vronsky's, and the added detail of Kitty being once a love interest of Vronsky, before he falls for Anna, creates some fascinating tension. Less prominent than these two relationships is the one between Oblonsky and Dolly (who is Kitty's sister) who are in a marriage whose flame of love has largely died out and spend most of their time apart, probably only remaining together for their children and for societal benefit.Tolstoy's ability to draw characters in your mind, to make you almost feel like you know them through a combination of action, dialog and thought processes, is as great as from any author I've ever read. In addition to the seven characters I have mentioned many others like Levin's two brothers and Kitty and Dolly's parents and Varenka a friend of Kitty's and Levin's friend Katavasov and various Countesses and Princes and more than I could mention; everyone is distinguishable with even minor character playing critical parts. It's of course a very long novel, but it earns its length, for the most part, with its depth. This book is often mentioned as a candidate for the greatest novel of all time. In my opinion there are a few flaws that keep it quite from being that. The character Levin seems to dominate long swaths of the book, and while much of it is interesting some of it can drag, especially when it's him alone wallowing in his own thoughts. More pages are dedicated to him than any other character, far surpassing even the title character herself. The biggest issue I have though is the last part the book (the novel is separated into eight parts); though finely written, as a conclusion it is largely unnecessary. To me, without spoiling anything, the end of part 7 is the real end of this exception and powerful work of art. These flaws however are minor, hardly detracting from my high opinion overall.I can't speak for the newer English translation of Anna Karenina, the Pevear-Volohonsky one, which has garnered a lot of praise, but the Maude translation, while nearly 100 years old, will more than satisfy lovers of great storytelling and great character development. Personally I prefer Tolstoy's War and Peace and a few of Dostoyevsky's books to this one, but that's personal preference. This is certainly a classic of the highest standard.Note: There are helpful character and term guides and also a brief biography on Tolstoy. Nice additional stuff.

The book-- This is a book of domestic relations and does not exclusively concern Anna and her lover. It is about choices and accommodations-- our own and the way we judge, sympathize, and react to the choices of others. I say "our" and "we" because the choices and reactions are sympathetic, and it is very easy to identify with the characters.Anna Karenina has some plot points and scenes in common with War and Peace-- a flirtation and one-sided infatuation that almost derails the right romance, nursing a dying character, and women cranky when a man doesn't return when he says he will. Anna Karenina also has a substantial dose of philosophizing, albeit on a different subject and much less than War and Peace. The translation-- much is made of how the first few words are translated (happy families alike/unhappy families different). I can't comment on those kinds of choices. I can say this translation is highly readable. The translation handles the characters transitions from speaking in Russian to French or English smoothly. The translation also deftly incorporates a few, very brief explanations of certain practices. Very clear, and very readable.Kindle-- works very well. Worth the $2.99.

I love the story and author but the printing is so light I can barely read it. I have to hold it up to the light toread. Very disappointed that their quality control did not catch before mailing out. This is a new product too. Also, it was supposed to be delivered within a couple of days it took a week.

My six month old daughter really likes this book. The words are just the words from the song but it is fun to sing the song while reading this book to her. She loves that the cover is reflective and that the illustrations are simple.

Bought this because my wife and I are expecting our first child in January. The song this was based off was the favorite song of one of my grandmothers, who died about a year and a half ago after a 30 year battle with Parkinson's Disease. I figured this would be a good way to keep my grandmother alive and a small part of my child's early life since she couldn't be here for the arrival.

A two year old loves this book, and the song - most of the time mommy has to sing it rather than read it!

What a fun book to read with my daughter. Love the board book because it's something my teething 12 mo daughter can literally and figuratively "sink her teeth into!"The picture of the book on the site is actually different from what you receive. It doesn't show that the board book cover and back is a shiny reflective cover.... It really enhances the "sun" in the front. Guess it was their way of emphasizing "sunshine"? 😂

We gave this to our little one for valentine's day and she loves it. The cover is kind of metallic and grabs her attentions. It is a cute book that repeats the lyrics to the song. Appealing illustrations, simple text, sturdy board book.

There is nothing fancy about this book. Just the song You Are My Sunshine written as a book. But this is one of our favorites!

Absolutely love this book. A very close family member that passed away years ago used to sing this to me. It’s nice quality board pages. Small but not too small. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is that the front cover was marked up a bit possibly from transport. Otherwise great condition.

My 7 month old loves the shiny cover on the book. The words are exactly the same as the ones my grandmother used to sing to me when I was a baby.

This is such a lovely, classic song, and the book version is sweet. I like the illustrations and it’s nice and durable. The cover is shiny, which is sure to be appealing to babies! I love singing this with my twins.

This book is an exploration of how to constructively uncouple people from conspiracy theories. I enjoyed the book because it is relatable and useable. Mick uses popular real-world experiences and examples from his work which help the reader understand the inside-baseball of people and theories so they structure effective talking points and arguments while maintaining a good relationship with whom they are talking to. This makes it very thoughtful and relevant to anybody debating anything with anybody today. My only criticism is I wish he would have dipped a toe into some of the bigger political conspiracy theories but this might be good for another book! I'm suggesting this book to everybody I know right now.

A good resource on strategies to nudge your friends and loved ones into the light so they can pull free. Not only will you gain techniques to help others in need, you will also be challenged to evaluate your own beliefs. While not specifically a book on critical thinking, you will undoubtedly gain tools for your skeptical toolbox to help sort out fact from fiction. You will dive into some basic science education that isn't dumbed-down, nor too complex. You will finish this book as a better ambassador to lead your friends and family...and possibly yourself, out of the rabbit hole.

This review comes with the caveat that I know Mick West and consider him a friend and a peer. Also, I am reviewing the advanced copy PDF that I was sent in June 2018 in order to be able to write a blurb for the book. I understand that he has made a few changes mainly in the final chapter that will appear in the final product.I loved the book, but probably for different reasons than what others are going to write, I loved the interviews with people who have been in the Rabbit Holes and managed to find their way out. Mick included many of these cautionary tales, how they got in, where they drew the line with their conspiracy theories (there are levels apparently) and how and why they got out of that mindset. Mick explains that most of the time people get into it from a video. In the “old days” it was a VHS tape, then DVD’s and currently it is YouTube. The algorithm for YouTube keeps suggesting more and more videos for binge watching, apparently, they are all in the same vein of belief. This just encourages the viewer to fall farther and farther into the Rabbit Hole.Mick cautions the non-conspiracy theorist to always be kind. Almost everyone can fall for these compelling stories at some point in your life. Belief in conspiracy theories has nothing to do with intelligence. And helping your friend avoid the Rabbit Hole or helping them climb out will take healthy polite discussions. You will not reason someone out of this conspiracy thinking by telling them they are stupid or yelling at them. Throughout the chapters, Mick gives us talking points we can use to understand the more common conspiracy theories. I found that really helpful.Flat-Earth, Chemtrails and 9/11 were covered in detail, I can’t believe that in 2018 we are talking about the flat-earth and chemtrails, amazing. The chapter that affected me the most was the one on false-flags, it was just heartbreaking that people genuinely don’t believe that these tragedies didn’t happen, and that the government (or some other group) has hired actors and paid off people to make it seem like they happened, all because of some kind of agenda. Just this morning watching the news about the children on the Mexican border being separated from their parents, MSNBC interviewed several fundamentalist pastors about their thoughts on the issue. One man stated that he doesn’t think it is really happening, those children are all paid actors. I could barely believe what I was hearing. Not only was he proud of what he was saying, but he apparently has a congregation and is a person with enough notoriety that MSNBC would ask him for an interview, and he was happy with his name being on screen. This man probably thinks lots of the population believes in his way of thinking.I think that most thinking people will enjoy this book, and not just because you love to debate strangers on social media (stop doing that, it’s a waste of your time) but because you probably have a family member, co-worker, school friend that you can see is slipping down into a Rabbit Hole and with this book you will be given some great talking points to divert them from falling into the Rabbit Hole and help others find the footing to climb out.

If you are trying to understand why some of your friends or relatives believe outlandish or unusual conspiracy theories, read this book. The primary benefit of this book, is for a personal understanding of why they feel this way, and how you (as a friend or relative) can cope or communicate with them in a sane and polite manner.

Excellent book giving the reader a lot of information to help combat conspiracy theories and those who believe them. Most importantly, the author presents his points in a way to help friends climb out of the "rabbit hole". I found many useful techniques and ideas that I have incorporated in my own practices. I highly recommend this book to anyone that is remotely interested in conspiracy theories.

If you are, or have ever considered yourself a conspiracy theorist, or truther, then you must read this book! This book is greatly needed and should be shared far an wide! If you are searching for Truth, look no further than this book!
